VLT Filtr dUdt MCC 102

dU/dt filters increase the rise time of the line-to-line voltage at the motor terminals, which is particularly important when using short motor cables.

dU/dt filters limit the amplitude of voltage pulse peaks, thereby also reducing their damaging impact on motor winding insulation.

Compared to sine filters, dU/dt filters attenuate all frequencies above the switching frequency.

Information:

Applications:

  • Applications with short motor cables
  • Applications with older motors
  • Applications operating in harsh environmental conditions
  • Applications requiring frequent braking

Better solution than output chokes

Output chokes can often contribute to undamped oscillations at the motor terminals, which increases the risk of high-amplitude overvoltages at the motor terminals. dU/dt filters are L-C low-pass filters with a defined cut-off frequency. As a result, the risk of voltage spikes and overvoltages at the motor terminals is reduced and depends on the attenuation characteristics of the filter.

Benefits:

  • Compatibility and suitability for operation with frequency converters in various modes (including flux and VVC+)
  • For high-power applications, parallel connection of filters is possible
  • dU/dt filters limit voltage pulse amplitude and extend the line-to-line voltage rise time
  • Excellent solution for using drives in applications with older motors
  • Smaller, lighter, and more cost-effective than sine filters
  • For high-power applications, parallel connection of filters is possible
  • Compatibility and suitability for operation with frequency converters in various modes (including flux and VVC+)
